The Brunswick Plane

A tree walk around the garden squares and Brunswick Square’s great plane are the main features of London Tree Week in the Bloomsbury Squares.

The Association of Bloomsbury Squares and Gardens, in association with Val Martin Memorial walks, are offering a walk around the squares to look at some of the splendid and unusual trees in the area.  Mecklenburgh Square garden (normally closed to the public) will be open to view the New Zealand border. The second oldest plane tree in London in Brunswick Square, one of London’s 10 great trees, will also be seen. The walk will happen rain or shine.

London Tree Week is a week when we celebrate and explore London’s trees and woodlands with a series of special events.

In 2014 over 2000 people joined in. From tree walks, to exhibitions, talks and tours there’s the opportunity to raise the profile of London’s amazing trees and green spaces.  Previous events have included pop-up forests, a tour of natural landscape paintings at the National Gallery and guided woodland walks.

London Tree Week is part of the RE:LEAF partnership’s work to protect and increase the number of trees in London. It is co-ordinated by the environment team at the Greater London Authority.
