Groups of volunteers regularly garden in Brunswick Square and Red Lion Square, led by professional gardeners. They work on the first Saturday of each month and members come along to as many sessions as they can. Just turn up (with your own gloves) and join in. The date of the next session is advertised on the railings the week before, but the usual pattern is:
Brunswick Square 10.00 to 12 noon, every first Saturday of the month (except January).
Red Lion Square 11.00 to 13.00, every first Saturday of the month February to September (except March and August).
Russell Square has also started something similar with a less regular pattern.
If you are interested in volunteering with any group, you can contact: firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
The team’s motto is: Volunteer: It’s good for your health …and the gardens!
In Brunswick Square the group is given a training talk, before getting down to the work required that month.
Passers-by regularly compliment them on what they’ve achieved and the gardens clearly benefit from their efforts. Come along to see what’s going on one first Saturday of the month soon.
