In Jane Austen’s novel Emma, Brunswick Square is commended as a airy and healthy place to live. Although the next-door Foundling Hospital is not mentioned there are many references to parentless children throughout the book.   Professor Laurie Kaplan will talk about this interesting aspect of the novel at the Foundling Museum on Saturday 8 June at 11 am in the Picture Gallery at the Foundling Museum in Brunswick Square (closest tube Russell Square or Kings Cross).
