The Christmas tree is up in Bedford Square and although we’re lacking a dusting of snow or even a festive frost, the lights look magical twinkling through the borders.
Meanwhile, with all the leaves down, we are being treated to the sight of the magnificent London Plane trees in all their architectural glory. Silhouetted against the winter sky, they bring a timeless sense of mystery to the Christmas scene.
Just at the moment, the Viburnum x bodnantense, which dot the garden, are the stars of the Square. Their pinky-white flowers born on bare stems are beautiful against the surrounding evergreens. Together with the fresh yellows of the Mahonias, these fabulously scented blooms bring exciting hints of the spring to come.
