Jane Austen’s Emma and Brunswick Square

The Emma 200 Festival celebrates the bicentenary of the publication of Jane Emma FlyerAusten’s Emma in 1815 – the novel which praises Brunswick Square: Our part of London is so very superior to most others! The neighbourhood of Brunswick Square is so very different from almost all the rest. (Emma, Chapter 12).

The Friends of Brunswick Square invite you to join them for four days of activities in and around leafy Grade II listed Georgian Brunswick Square.

From a screening of the 1996 film starring Gwyneth Paltrow to a lecture from Austen scholar Professor John Mullan and a staged reading of a theatrical adaptation, to period music and dancing, modern improv group Austentatious, and a free Saturday of family activities and entertainment, Emma 200 has a varied programme for all.
