The rain did not damp the lively Marchmont Street Party on Saturday 13 September, arranged by the Marchmont Association. It cleared up in time for stalls, orchestra, choir, Mexican band and children’s’ funfair to fill the street with colourful activity. See photos below.
Marchmont Community Garden celebrated the second anniversary of its opening by organising a free plant giveaway, supported by funding for celebrating a success from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Vital Flowers of Leigh St supplied troughs, pots, compost and lovely plants and bulbs, which local residents could plant for themselves or have planted for them. We hope this will encourage them to plant up their troughs again for the summer season, with suitable plants, and perhaps to feel they’d like to help in the garden when they could see how easy and enjoyable planting can be.
Anyone can join the Marchmont Garden group. If you would like to become involved in the MCG we would very much like to hear from you.
