The indifferent summer weather did not chose to shine on the annual gathering of committee members and volunteers from the various local garden Friends groups, but the event went ahead for a hardy few in spite of the weather. The occasion, hosted this year by St George’s Gardens, is a chance to meet other Friends groups in the area and share news. There are also two more formal meetings in the spring and autumn when local issues relating to the gardens are discussed.

As well as looking out for the care and maintenance of the individual gardens, the groups have jointly initiated the weekly Wellbeing Walks from the squares led by the Camden Guides and recently sponsored a trial series of five sessions for free outdoor nature-based activities for girls.

All the Friends groups would be delighted to welcome volunteers, for a variety of activities, not just gardening. Contact bloomsburysquares@talktalk.net
