Joining the UK’s 15 national parks soon – London is set to become the world’s first National Park City say campaigners. It’s already thought to be Europe’s greenest capital city, with 47 % of its area made up of parks, nature reserves and gardens. Nine out of ten Londoners are said to support the idea. The national park city would be funded from private donations and commercial services – it would have no formal planning powers, but would focus on helping Londoners to benefit more from the city’s natural heritage.
